Being a Technology Integration Specialist during a pandemic requires thinking of innovative ways to still be effective. Support and professional development for fellow colleagues still needs to occur all while respecting the health and safety guidelines of our current situation. One of the methods that I have implemented in my school district is modeling a method of how we can incorporate learning strategies like the 5E’s (developed by BSCS in 1987) and partnering them with a technological tool like Book Creator. Through the use of Book Creator for our district’s professional development, I can model how a hybrid educational model could be effective. During this presentation, I will demonstrate how we were able to provide professional development on the 5E instructional model through the use of Book Creator, which supported both face-to-face interactions as well as those connecting through a virtual setting.
